The Saflok MT lock series...  This is an uncomplicated lock that seems to be well built with positive features.

The Saflok factory finally listened to some input from their customers and redesigned the encoder, and programming probe. It is a FANTASTIC improvement. Now, if they will do something about the overide or emergency power module, it would be even better.

What can I say. This lock is simple to work on, easy to install, and the manuals are the best in the business. Saflok provides you with a ring binder that answers ALL your questions on programming, operation, and interrogating the locks. If you can read and follow directions, you should never have to talk with technical support.  The biggest problem for me was always getting ahead of the encoder. SIMPLE... SIMPLE ... SIMPLE... The flow makes sense, but sometimes I feel there should be shortcuts available.

The software is still a bit "clunky", and the loading of the information before programming or troubleshooting is still a minus to this lock. Improvements HAVE been made, and continue to be made, but there is still a lot of improvements left to be done. 

Saflok has pioneered a new WIRELESS technology that is good not only for hotel properties, but can be interfaced into many other industrial applications as well.

Saflok must be doing something right. MANY Vegas hotels use these locks on their properties.

IHMR show news 2005

It was fantastic seeing some of my old Friends again. Fred Crum spent some precious time at their busy booth explaining the newest upgrades and design changes to the Saflok family of locking systems.  David Ginn, also said hello... Mike, and Mr. Hershey also said hey.

Saflok has introduced a new "Multi Unit" electronic deadbolt for the apartment industry. WAY TO GO!!!  This facet of security has long been ignored, but Saflok has tackled the problems head-on. This innovative lock uses a plastic key fob to operate the lock. An encoder can program the key just like any hotel, allowing for audit trail functions, as well as a time limit for operations.  I think this will make a big splash in the Apartment industry.

Saflok has re-designed many of their products offering styles and options not offered by any other lock manufacturer.

If I had 100 million, I'd buy Saflok!... Anyone care to loan me some money??

Dateline AAHOA 2006 -

 At this years convention, Mr. Hershey made a monumentally stupid decision. That decision will impact this manufacturer for years to come. The decision was made to DISCONTINUE ANY and ALL SUPPORT for the Saflok line of locks if they were purchased ANYWHERE except from the factory!

What this means is that if you purchase a hotel full of Saflok's from anywhere besides the Saflok factory, (ie Ebay, a friend, a hotel going out of business, or upgrading, etc.) then you will not get any support for those locks from the factory. This is a really BIG DEAL!!

This effectively tells anyone that if you don't spend your money paying the factory prices, you won't get any support.

This attitude tells me that they are only interested in selling NEW locks, and that they have no interest in supporting their product or establishing a good relationship with their users. This is a major factor to consider in your decision to get involved with Saflok.

IF it was me, I'd buy any other brand just because of the attitude of the factory... but thats just me... Make your own decision!
